Gather The Family Together at Mealtimes
Making Placemats
Even if your kids are too young to help you cook, they can be a part of every mealtime with this classic craft. All you need is some construction paper, tape, and clear contact paper.
- 1. Let your kids pick out their favorite colors of construction paper. For holiday placemats, use the appropriate colors — red, white and blue for July 4th, black and orange for Halloween.
- 2. Cut 10 strips, approximately 2 inches wide and 24 inches long. Lay them down side by side, and use a piece of tape to hold them together.
- 3. Cut 12 more strips of paper, about 2 inches by 24 inches, and weave them through the strips from step.
- 4. Cover both sides with contact paper.
- 5. Watch the look of pride appear on your child’s face.
