Why: Seeds of Living Education, Inc. is a local grassroots non-profit founded in July 2009. SOLE’s board is comprised of parents, teachers, school board members, pediatricians, local businesses and community residents. The organization helped construct and cultivate The Giving Garden at Union Pleasant Elementary School which has positively impacted over 600 children, their teachers and their families in just two growing seasons through either direct gardening experiences or participation in nutritious classroom tastings of fresh veggies and fruits.
