Make the most of every mealtime moment! Kimberly of A Night Owl Blog prepares a delicious meal with her family and reveals how she sparks tasty table talk.
Hi friends! What do your family dinners look like? Do you even have a chance to gather around the table for family dinners? With our busy schedules and it seems increasingly busy society; family dinner can fall through the cracks. We make time for family dinners but we don't always think to talk through the day or important topics. This season, Hidden Valley invites you to take a step back, slow down and savor the moments that matter, and that is exactly what we did with the help of PeachDish and some fun conversation starters.
Our friends at Hidden Valley sent us the most delicious Dressed Chicken meal kit from PeachDish. All the fresh ingredients were delivered to our door and it took the pressure off of me to figure out what was for dinner. While I was whipping up a delicious dinner in the kitchen the boys set the table with plates, forks, napkins, and some Tasty Table Topics. These topics were sent to us as a way to start fun and important conversations around the dinner table.
We dug into dinner first, enjoying a wonderful and fresh meal from the comfort of home. The boys were so excited and it wasn't long until their plates were cleaned. I didn't have to ask twice if they enjoyed the meal! Once our bellies were full we got to chatting. We each read off a couple of Tasty Table Topics and went over each of our answers.
I'm thankful for...
Favorite meal ever...
Questions and topics I thought I would know the answers to for each of my kids and even my husband, but I think all of us were somewhat surprised by some of the responses. Our oldest spoke of how they were learning about Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks at school — a great jumping off point to bring a personal aspect to such an important topic for our family. We weren't so surprised that "favorite meals" included tacos and pizza, but it was fun to guess who would say what. Our middle kiddo said he was thankful for his mommy and daddy...he always knows the way to our heart.
All in all it was a great evening. I think in the mad rush of the weekdays and weeknights we can forget that there is still plenty of time for meaningful conversations. This was a great reminder that we can make time to savor these moments while we have them.
