Slow Cooker Ranch Carnitas

    In a small bowl, stir the Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Seasoning & Salad Dressing Mix Shaker with the olive oil. Rub the mixture all over the surface of the meat.

    Place the pork in a slow cooker and top with the onion. Squeeze the orange juice over the meat and place the two spent halves into the pot. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.

    Once the meat is cooked and cool enough, pull apart with a fork.

    Serve with tortillas and desired toppings (cabbage, sour cream and avocado work well).

    For a more traditional preparation, heat a large sauté pan coated with olive oil over high heat. Press the carnitas into the pan and cook until crusty on one side before serving.

      Place the pork in the inner pot of your multi-cooker and top with the onion. Squeeze the orange juice over the meat and place the two spent halves into the pot, along with 1 cup chicken broth.

      Turn on the multi-cooker and secure lid, setting pressure valve to “sealing.” Select “manual” or “pressure cook” and cook on high-pressure for 60 minutes. Select “cancel” to turn off the machine.

      Allow the pressure valve to natural pressure release for at least 10 minutes, then quick-release the pressure by turning the seal to “venting.”

      Once the meat is cooked and cool enough, pull apart with a fork. Serve in tortillas with desired topping. For a more traditional preparation, see step 5 of the standard recipe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely delicious! I used the new Hidden Valley Nights - Black Pepper Parmesan packet with 3 TBSP of EVOO and 1/2 an orange. My guys ate it up so quickly! Not even a chance to save leftovers! My husband hates fruit in his meat, so that’s why I reduced the amount of orange, but in truth, it simply gave it a subtle flavor that wasn’t predominant or overpowering in the least! I served this with roasted red potatoes, red onions, garlic, and carrots which complemented the flavors perfectly! I would definitely recommend this recipe, especially with the new Ranch-Nights!

It is very easy to prepare but if you want anything close to carnitas, you have to put it on a baking sheet and bake for a good 15 min them broil for at least 5 to 10. Also. I like it spicier to I added a can of green chilies and some Tabasco before baking
