What do you do when your little one is a picky eater? Kimberly Sneed, of A Night Owl blog, shares her tips.
Hi friends! What does mealtime look like for you? Racing around the kitchen trying to prepare meals the family will enjoy? This season, Hidden Valley invites you to take a step back, slow down and savor the moments that matter, the ones that often pass us by when we’re busy taking care of everything else.
Mealtime has been a little more stressful for us as of late — with the introduction of a picky eater. Now we’re hoping it’s just a season, but our youngest has challenged us in many ways, one being what he’s willing to eat. Do you have one of those?
Making sure your kiddo eats and gets enough nutrition to help them grow during these fundamental years can be so stressful! But rather than pass on that stress, we’re trying to introduce ways to embrace who our child is and help him to make choices that matter. We’re including him on this journey to finding what he truly enjoys eating while ensuring he’s getting enough to eat and well-balanced meals.
To this point we've tried a number of different tricks and "hacks" to get our little one to eat more, and one thing he always responds well to is dipping! He loves to dip everything — from veggies to pizza. Everything tastes a little better with ranch, right? And you can believe that we’re incorporating this trick into mealtime!
From snack time to dinnertime, some of the pressure has been relieved. It has been easier to plan dinners and now we’re able to savor happier, non-stressful moments together! The focus has been taken off what we’re eating and IF they are eating to where we can now focus on spending time together as a family. We sit around the dinner table (a MUST every night) talking about our how our days went, what’s going on at school and more. This gives us a chance to connect with our kids, especially now that they spend so much of their time at school and away from home. This bonding time is essential and so greatly valued!
I know we’re not alone. For all those with a picky eater, how have you solved the problem so you can savor mealtime as a family? Share with us on Facebook using #SavorItAll.
